Bridezillas

October 1st is a major holiday in China. As a result, we were given a week off from teaching. Mallary and I decided that we would spend four nights away from Qufu and visit Qingdao. The city of Qingdao, in the words of my students, "is a famous colorful city near the sea." Perhaps the most surprising aspect of Qingdao wasn't the old German architecture or the ultra rich sailing area; but rather, it was the countless bridal shoots scattered along the coastline and in front of the old Catholic church.

See how many brides you can count.

  1. When we were in New York in April 2001, there were pictures on a beautiful stairway of chinese brides and grooms, about 20 couples. I guess they like to get pictures taken in groups. Unfortunately that was a building damaged in 9/11

  3. That's funny! I can totally picture that. When we were in Rome this year, what did we see but a Chinese couple (with the whole family entourage) taking pictures in front of the coliseum. It was like we had never left.
